SURPRISE!!!!!
This is our new website! It's still a work in progress, and the other pages have more stuff on them, but we thought it was important to switch over as soon as possible. Thank You, Lord, for the Weebly editor!
Scripture of the month
"Taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are they who take refuge in God!"-Psalm 34:8
Devotions
“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely, and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteous Savior.- Jeremiah 23:5-6
Prophecy. Ages and ages of prophecy, and then…the time has come! An angel appears, delivers a few messages (“Do not fear!” is on his lips), and scandal ensues. Elizabeth conceives and bears a son in her old age, while Mary, a virgin, is a mother to be. An angel appears to Joseph, and now he's on board with God’s plan as well.
A decree from Herod means that a very pregnant Mary and her husband, Joseph, must go to Bethlehem, which means a very long journey. They arrive, and find no room in the inn, but there’s this stable they can use, if they really want to. More angels (although I think only one gets a speaking line) deliver a VIP announcement for shepherds, in a style reminiscent of the classic singing telegram. The message is received, and a visit is made. “Praise to God!!!” is given.
Wise men are on the way, as well, and Herod wants to worship the King of Kings–or does he? Anyway, gold, frankincense, and myrrh arrive in time for presents, at the house that Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus have now moved in to. More “Praise God!!!” occurs, and the wise men, after being warned in a dream of Herod’s plot, return home by a different route.
What do you do to celebrate the coming of our Lord? What traditions do you have? What is it that makes this season of giving truly special for you? When does the hustle and bustle end and Christmas Spirit begin?
God’s Blessings and Peace to each and every one of you. Safe travels, and Merry Christmas!
